Kong Qingyun Met Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly

On August 31, 2025, Fenghai Company Chairwoman Kong Qingyun met with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in Tianjin, who was attending the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit. The discussion focused on implementing the strategic consensus of the Chinese and Egyptian heads of state, aligning the Belt and Road Initiative with Egypt’s Vision 2030, and promoting practical cooperation in new energy and seawater desalination, contributing to the China-Egypt community of shared future.

Prime Minister Madbouly warmly welcomed the visit and highlighted that over 95% of Egypt is desert, and its water supply is highly dependent on the Nile River. The extreme scarcity of freshwater resources severely restricts Egypt's socio-economic development. He outlined Egypt’s national water resource strategies for 2035 and 2050, welcomed Fenghai to participate in the high-quality development of Egypt's seawater desalination industry, and added that he looks forward to further communication and cooperation with the company in the period ahead.

Chairwoman Kong expressed gratitude for the reception and briefly introduced Fenghai’s core technological advantages and market expansion. To date, Fenghai’s new energy seawater desalination equipment has been deployed in 11 countries, including the Maldives, Brazil, Oman, Seychelles, and Malaysia, establishing four regional markets in South/Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Pacific island nations. Kong stated that the company will align with Egypt’s local development plans and practical requirements, establish a dedicated team to deeply cultivate the new energy desalination market, implement “small yet beautiful” livelihood projects based on “Fenghai Wisdom”, and drive the whole supply chain of desalination industry locally, actively supporting Egypt’s Vision 2030 and injecting new impetus to China-Arab and China-Africa relations.

Attendees included Egyptian Ambassador to China Khaled Nazmy, Prime Minister’s First Assistant Randa el-Menshawy, Cabinet Secretary Osama Saad, Fenghai Deputy General Manager Xu Weiguo, General Manager Assistant Wu Kailong, Chen Xiaobai, and relevant personnel from both sides.
