China-aid desalination equipment for Kiribati leaves China_海露-江苏丰海新能源淡化海水发展有限公司

On June 28, 2024, the containerized seawater desalination equipment for Kiribati is shipped from Changshu Port of Jiangsu province, China. The equipment is designed and manufactured by Fenghai to help alleviate water shortages in Kiribati's capital, South Tarawa.

At present, South Tarawa, the capital of Kiribati, mainly relies on groundwater recharge for domestic water. However, the prolonged La Nina phenomenon and dry weather have triggered severe groundwater shortages, and Kiribati is facing a severe water shortage crisis. Fenghai's desalination equipment uses the local natural seawater resources to produce 250 tons of fresh water per day so as to meet the daily water needs of nearly 2,000 people.

At the Singapore International Water Week held this month, an officer from Kiribati Public Utilities Board (PUB) showed a geat interest in Fenghai’s new energy desalination equipment, and specially stopped to exchange views and learn more about the core technology and professional capabilities of Fenghai. He believes the equipment is particularly suitable for Kiribati, which is in short supply of fresh water resources. After realizing that the desalination equipment granted by the Chinese government is from Fenghai company, he is full of confidence in the project, saying that Kiribati urgently needs this equipment and looks forward to the completion and operation of this project.
