The inauguration ceremony of China-aid project held

On March 8, 2024, the inauguration ceremony of the China-aid new energy seawater desalination project in the Maldives undertaken by Fenghai company was successfully held in K.Kaashidhoo island, Maldives. Wang Lixin Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Abdulla Muththalib Minister of Construction and Infrastructure of the Maldives, Amir president of K.Kaashidhoo Council, Kong Qingyun general manager of Fenghai company as well as about 100 representatives from the Chinese government and the Maldivian government attended the ceremony.

 
 
At the ceremony, Kong Qingyun delivered an opening speech. She first thanked the Chinese government and the Maldivian government for their care and support since the project construction. The China-aid project of new energy seawater desalination in the Maldives is not only one of the important projects in China-Maldives high-quality "Belt and Road" construction, but also a "small yet smart" project for public well-being, which is of great significance for consolidating and deepening China-Maldives friendship. She said that Fenghai will continuously practice its original intention and mission of high-quality service and escort the operation of the project. At the same time, it will deeply cultivate the Maldivian market and contribute Chinese wisdom to the development of green energy in the Maldives.

Ambassador Wang Lixin congratulated the official inauguration of the China-aid new energy desalination project in the Maldives. She stated that the inauguration of the project will greatly improve people's well-being and contribute to the sustainable development of the Maldives. Among the 5 islands, the first and only wind power generation equipment in the Maldives has been installed in K.Kaashidhoo island, which is of demonstrative significance for the development of new energy sector of Maldives.

Minister Muththalib thanked China for its generous grant. He said the project is completely powered by new energy, which aligns with the renewable energy development plan of the country. As another example of friendly China-Maldives cooperation, the project will provide water for about 10,000 people and electricity for 300 households, greatly improving the living environment and life quality for residents of the five islands, he said.



At the ceremony, Ambassador Wang Lixin, Minister Muththalib and general manager Kong Qingyun jointly unveiled the bronze medal of China-aid New Energy Seawater Desalination Project in the Maldives.
