The delegation of Vanuatu came to Fenghai for investigation

On April 10, the delegation of the Republic of Vanuatu led by Hon. Minister Ham Lini and ambassador Nugk Yang Dennis Nai came to Fenghai for investigation. They had a pleasant discussion with Jiangsu Fenghai New Energy Desalination Development Co., Ltd. on the project of “new energy seawater desalination equipment set” for the early stage issues. Shi Heping, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People 's Congress and deputy secretary of the party group and district leaders including Song Yong, Luo Qiang met the delegation respectively.

During the visit in Dafeng, the Vanuatu delegation visited bottle filling workshop of new energy desalinated water, intelligent micro-grid control center, engineering technology research center, knowing more about the use of new energy seawater desalination equipment set technology, which they showed a great interest in.

In the afternoon at the symposium, the two sides held a further discussion on the equipment composition, operating costs and other issues. The Vanuatu delegation listened to the introduction to the status of the global water shortage, 10,000tpd desalination projects and containerized seawater desalination system in detail by Yang Hongxun the general manager of Fenghai company. Then Xu Weiguo the technical director gave a presentation on the design proposal of complete equipment, energy configuration, land occupation of the project, etc. The delegation listened carefully to the report and said that nowadays climate change and natural disasters often affect their people's lives, El Niño phenomena is more and more severe, the drought caused by hurricane in 2016 results in domestic water shortages and the entire national reservoirs have been dried.

Vanuatu is located in the west of South Pacific Ocean. It is composed of 83 islands, many of which are without rivers, where people solely rely on rainwater for living. Taking it into account that the island is surrounded by ocean, desalination is the best solution to water shortage. The Sustainable Development Program of Vanuatu indicates that in 2030 Vanuatu strives to achieve 100% new energy supply target by introducing desalination plant to obtain fresh water resources ensuring 100% of the population have access to safe and healthy drinking water. Based on above the Vanuatu delegation believed that Fenghai company can use renewable energy for desalination to solve the local shortage of water and electricity, and hoped that the relationship between Vanuatu and China can be deepened through the new energy desalination project. Its Department of Climate Change will actively contribute to this cooperation. Hon. Minister Ham Lini said that he hoped that Fenghai would make field visits to Vanuatu as soon as possible and enable further in-depth exchanges with the local technical team for a project feasibility study report.

After the meeting, the district leaders Song Yong and Luo Qiang cordially met the delegation.

On the morning of April 11, Shi  Heping, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress and deputy secretary of the party group, cordially met the delegation and held friendly talks on the new energy desalination project.
