Ministry of Environment and Energy (MEE) of Maldives visited Fenghai.

On March 25, 2016, Ahmed Ali, director of Maldives Environment and Energy Bureau and Shahid Adam Ebrahim, director of Water Supplies Bureau visited Dafeng District in Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province for investigation. They had a pleasant discussion with Jiangsu Fenghai New Energy Desalination Development Co., Ltd. on the foreign-aid project of “new energy seawater desalination equipment set” for the earlier-stage issues. Ma Minglong, director of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, Ni Feng, a member of Yancheng Municipal Standing Committee and secretary of Dafeng District, Zhu Yiming, deputy director of Jiangsu Provincial Commerce Department, and district leaders including Song Yong, Luo Qiang, Ni Xiangrong, Wei Yingsheng were involved in the meeting or accompanied on the investigation.

During the meeting, Ma Minglong said the Chinese government and our provincial government are very concerned about the assistance project to Maldives of “new energy seawater desalination equipment set” from Fenghai company, and Dafeng District, Yancheng City and even the whole Jiangsu Province are willing to offer the best product and the best service to solve the water problems faced by Maldivians. After this project is launched, we’ll provide all-round guarantees according to the regulations agreed by both sides in the contract to complete the project efficiently and make off-grid wind power seawater desalination project a new highlight in Maldives.

The Maldives delegation expressed their gratitude to the Chinese government for the project support. There’re numerous islands in Maldives. The new energy seawater desalination equipment set is a project utilizing renewable energy resources, which provides a good solution to the island water problems in Maldives. Maldives will seize time to complete works like report and application, etc., making effort to finish the project as soon as possible and promote the friendship between the two sides.

During the symposium, both sides held a further discussion on the issues including facility use, project operation, etc. District mayor Song Yong said, the visit of director Ahmed Ali and director Shahid Adam Ebrahim to Dafeng fully shows the Maldives government attaches great importance to the organization and implementation of this project, which lays a good foundation for future cooperation.

Earnest request is extended to Environment and Energy Department of Maldives, hoping they could determine on the site selection so as to create preconditions for all earlier-stage work. Seawater desalination industrial park and Fenghai company are expected to take the initiative to work closely with Maldives in further optimizing and perfecting project plans to push forward project construction in high standard, high level and high efficiency referring to the actual situations.

During the visit in Dafeng, the Maldives delegation visited bottle filling workshop of new energy desalinated water, intelligent microgrid control centre, engineering technology research centre, knowing more about the use of new energy seawater desalination equipment set technology, which left them a deep impression on the advanced development of new energy seawater desalination industry of our district.
